The assessment of children, young people and adults has become increasingly relevant and important in identifying intellectual strengths, as well as the causes of any underlying difficulties that may be impacting the ability to learn, interact, study and work effectively.

Children

For children difficulties with literacy or learning can hinder the ability to access and respond to the curriculum effectively, affect
self-confidence or self-esteem and in some cases contribute to behavioural issues, problems with social skills or making and maintaining friendships.

Adults

Young people and students

For young people and students learning difficulties can also affect organisational skills, lead to problems with researching, planning and producing written work, poor revision skills and impact performance in coursework and examinations
In the workplace, learning difficulties are often identified through problems with organisation and planning, difficulties dealing with aspects such as report-writing or producing presentations, or in poor interpersonal skills or difficulties with working as part of a team. In such cases an assessment can help to identify whether the underlying learning difficulties are a contributing factor and if so, identify strategies that could improve performance, self-esteem and achievment

I have been working as in independent educational psychologist since  2001, carrying out assessments and working with parents, teachers, universities and employers in the south west and  south of England to support people of all ages. The following pages give you some idea of how I work.
